You want me to do WHAT with that?

I had little P's room so organized before my last two showers and then literally I was hit with a cyclone of gifts (not that we are complaining over here). I have to laugh as to some gifts I received my sisters and other mother friends thought were hilarious and or unnecessary. For my mom blog readers do you agree or disagree?

NoseFrida Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator
Just like the photo shows you use your own mouth to help loosen the snot out of your baby. Granted there is a filter (and long tube) but most people thought this was absolutely disgusting. In fact my sisters want me to FaceTime with them the first time I do it. However this gets a 5 out of 5 rating on most websites so there has to be some magic to it!

Little Giraffe Satin Trim Blanky
I didn't register for any of these but I was wondering if I need them? As a self professed blanket hoarder Presley already has quite the collection of her own blankets. Are "loveys" necessary as well?

Medela Easy Expression Bustier Pumping Bra

When I received this I was actually pumped (pun intended!) because I knew it would come in handy. When David saw it he looked mystified/mortified and said "look it's you blogging!" - in reference to the above photo. The best comment....when my mom commented it could be my Halloween costume. Um excuse me...what? Unless I am trying to be Regina George.
Once I start maternity leave next week I plan on picking up some last minute things that we didn't receive - which to be honest is not a whole lot! All I really need is bottles, lanolin and diapers! I also have a TON of little clothes to wash - it may be my favorite batch of laundry to date!

  1. I'd say YES to the pump bra. I hated that I couldn't use my hands as I was sitting there pumping. This makes it convenient to go online, write posts, or paint your nails lol. It's the little things. And as disgusting as that nose thing looks, if it's going to help you get her boggies out, help her get better faster or help you sleep because she isn't as congested I say go for it!! :)

  2. The pump bustier is a must! Having your hands free while pumping is sooo nice and helps the time go faster! It was like a little "me time" to edit photos, send emails, blog or just scroll Instagram! The Nose Frida does seem so strange but all my friends swore by it and 11 weeks in, it's already gotten some use! hah

  3. i've heard amazingness about all of those items except the blanket...but i owned none of them for kaye. for kaye we just used the bulb syringe. i'm REALLY good at that now and can pin all arms, legs and body down AND suck out a substantial amount in like...10 seconds. so that's my advice. get good fast. the pump bra i have heard from multiple mamas that it saved them...so go for it. kaye does have a blankie that she takes EVERYWHERE which is fine with me. it provides her comfort, and i like that. so...yes to having a comfort lovey. congrats! you made it!

  7. Haha I read a review on that nose frida on another blog, and she said it was a Godsend. I feel like you can get some pretty hilarious home videos from that thing, just sayin! And the mean girls reference... on point :)

  8. I've heard really good things about the NoseFrida, that it works amazingly! That pump bra looks hilarious, and I love the comment your husband made, but being hands free will be nice!

  9. My best friend has that snot sucker! (As she calls it) haha! She was so excited about it (she's a nurse so gross things don't bother her) but the rest of us were grossed out! xx

  10. That is the bloggers breast pump!! It looks so silly but think how handy it is! I've seen that snotsucker before and it's so gross but I guess it makes sense?! You'll have to let us know!

  11. The Nose Frida rocks!! But, one thing to keep in mind. If the baby is sick or you are, don't use it. They say the filter isn't good enough to keep either one of you from passing germs. I learned that after the fact.

  12. The nose frida was a saving grace for us back in the baby days! Totally bizarre but it worked for us. SS actually never got attached to a lovey, and I was ok with that! The bustier bra seems lame, but I totally used it so I could do other things. While not attractive, it worked for me.

  14. The nose frida sounds so gross, the thought of it makes me squeamish! You should totally take a video and share it with us when you use it!

  17. The infamous snot sucker! All my mommy friends swear by that thing, but it still makes me want to gag every time I think about using it. I've actually seen one of my friends use it with her little one, and it really does work wonders!

  18. Yes, the Nose Frida is amazing, period! You just wait...

  19. I just can't get over the whole pumping thing...I heard it is NOT comfortable at all. Not looking forward to that! And that nose thing??! Oh heck no! That looks so gross, I don't care if there's a barrier between you and that snot! hahaha

  20. bahahah i can just picture you writing your blog posts now while pumping... although maybe i shouldn't be picturing that?

  21. Haha, love what David said about you blogging and pumping...a little behind the scenes blogging! That snot thing grosses me out, I think I would gag....but, I think the little silky is a must! I have had them made for many friends and my nephew and they're always a HUGE hit. I made 3 for my sister because Phillip was obsessed and that way she could have one in the laundry, one in his crib, and one in his car seat. I think little P will love having it :) I even did a post on it, from the girl who makes them for me. Here is the link :) http://fromfoothillstofog.blogspot.com/2014/03/silky-from-kenyon-kreations.html

  22. Yeah that nasal aspirator thing almost had me puking the first time I saw it. Even if it works like a charm, no thank you!

  23. Hah my friend has that Medela pump and swears by it. If it means no drippy nosed kids, I'd aspirate away!

  24. Agree with others - the nasal aspirator (or nose sucker, as we call it) is GREAT!!!!!!! We have used it a ton in the first year of our son's life. :)

  25. The nosefrida and the pump-bra are easily my most used registry items (even if they are far from glamorous!)

  26. hahaha I just bought the nosefrida! I hear it works so well but I agree, when I first saw it I was like WHAT is THAT. It's so weird but if it helps the baby that's a good thing right? haha

  27. Hahah! The NoseFrida - man, I told everyone about that thing when I learned about it. It really has come in handy the times when she was sick and so congested full of thick snot. Totally worth it! Loveys - Kaitlyn loves loves loves her loveys! I was really particular, wanting a lovey I could get in multiples, because seeing our nephews with a singular lovey (stuffed animal) that became irreplaceable and irreparable. We now have 7 of the same lovey. LG blankets are so lovely - we have 3. lol! The pumping bra! I'm a SAHM so thought it was unnecessary - well, I wish I had gotten one. But I made a couple in a pinch once. Just took cheap cami/sports bras, cut tiny slits in them and they work the same way.

  31. Yes to the pump bra!! I bought one but it didn't work with my pump which was super duper depressing! Trust me sitting there holding 2 pumps to your boobs gets old real quick! I don't have a nose Frieda but everyone swears by it so I'm buying one for the next baby!

  32. I'm a new reader, but wanted to comment on the "lovey" blanket. We got a few for showers as well and I always thought they would just take up space. However, when I was all stressed out about beginning to UNswaddle for sleep (around 6 months for us) a friend suggested giving him something to hold to and I'll tell you what, for the last 18+ months that child has held on to that blanket and sleeps awesome. I liked that it was small enough that I didn't have to worry about him getting tangled. Now I just wish I had an identical back-up!!

  33. The pumping bra is a LIFESAVER! I would do computer work, read a magazine or fold laundry while I pumped to take my mind off of it. Hands free is the way to be! And I was perplexed the first time I saw that nose sucker but my girlfriends swear by it!
