Loving & Loathing

LOVING

...people giving me their seat on the train
...baby kicks
...that all my nursery bedding is on sale right now and I want to buy it ALL! (Speaking of - I need more opinions on bumpers - I know generally they are no good. How many of you decided to forgo them?)
...that we are finally making some progress on getting pre-approved for a home loan - woah when did I turn into an adult?
whaa?
...staying away from all "child birth" videos
...that my parents spoiled us and purchased mini's crib!

LOATHING

...that in getting pre-approved for home loans my husband got to see ALL my financials. See his reaction below.

Thoughtful Oprah

...that my car registration stickers went to my old address, for the SECOND year in a row.
...that dreaded glucose test is two weeks away
...that because we are potentially thinking about moving I can't nest into a nursery
...wearing work clothes - so I tend to break rules and rock jeans more often that I should

What are you guys loving/loathing this week?

  4. Thankfully when we bought our house we just used my husbands salary because I was comission only I was too risky to put on a loan these days so he didn't have to see my financials... haha but now that we share a bank account he pretty much knows everything and I have to behave myself :(
I got a bumper for Miller, a lot of people told me it was a waste and I wouldn't use it but they were wrong! I didn't put it in until he was about 6 months and could roll over and I wasn't quite as stressed about SIDS. He loves it. He pretty much sleeps with top of his head snuggled up against it every night or his back up against it. We learned early on that he really likes soft things and likes to snuggle up against them so for us it is a yes.

  8. Exciting about the house loan potential! Sharing financial history is such a biatch. But then you just have to deal with it (working on that part right now ha). Yay for the new crib, too!

  9. Ha! My spending was SO bad last month (our birthday month) that I was soooooo ashamed for my husband to see my personal spending for our budget. It was not a good time at all.

But yay for getting closer to getting pre-approved! I'm definitely not looking forward to those days in the future!

  11. I didn't do bumpers. I had all of my bedding custom made and the fabric was super pricey. I didn't see the point. Most doctors suggest not using them anyway.

  13. Maybe I'm a terrible mother but...my bumpers were in from the very beginning. (Yikes?) I always put my daughter to sleep with one of those sleep positioner things around her, so we never had a problem (thankfully) - but maybe you shouldn't? I would still buy so that when baby is bigger you can have - and for the nursery pictures!

  15. you'll do fine with the glucose test and our state can't seem to get anything right case in point your car registration two years, oh geesh.

  16. We're due with #1 in 5.5 weeks and I'm forgoing a bumper for now and will revisit later, maybe when she's around 6 months or so, as it's not really recommended before they're rolling around and stuff anyways! The glucose test is really no big deal- people make such a fuss about that little drink! You'll do great!

  17. Don't worry about the glucose test! It's more a pain if you fail and have to come back of the three hour one (which I did). As for bumpers we didn't get the fancy ones just the mesh. Little miss has a bad habit of flailing around in her sleep. She sleeps in a pack n play but will be moved to a crib soon.

  18. We chose no bumper for my son- it's a risk we decided not to take.

  19. Yay for baby kicks!!! My fave! And we got the breathable bumpers from target (supposed to be safer) and those worked well, recently we have switched to regular ones now that she is older!!

  20. while she was still swaddled (for 4 months) we had no bumper and when she was older we went with a breathable bumper and really liked it - kept her legs from getting stuck in between the slats (love, love, love chunky baby thighs) but was vented so we didn't worry about SIDS, etc.

  21. Baby kicks just don't get old :-) We're definitely skipping the bumper... it seems like everyone in the world says not to get one. Also, why are you dreading the glucose test?! I just had mine last week.
