Pulitzer & Privacy

I feel like once I say this next thing I am going to get some mean comments...but you guys I don't get it.

I don't get the Lilly Pulitzer obsession.

Is it because I am on the west coast? Because I understand the obsessions with monograms, but Lilly? I'm just kinda clueless. I mean it's cute, it's bright - holy heck it's patterned.

I went to Target to browse it. (By it I mean all of maybe 12 items left in the store) and sure I bought two little things for P. This dress and these shorts (the shorts are freaking cute) but I still was questioning why I needed them. Then I was turned off of it when I saw it all over Instagram and eBay being up sold. Why are people so damn greedy?

Here is the kicker (something I actually learned in college). Target very PURPOSELY does not carry enough product during a limited release of anything. (Think black Friday, think new Xbox, think Frozen) This is because all they want is for you to get to the store. Once you're at the store, even if everything of what you wanted is sold out, you will still purchase items. Think around the holidays, you promise your daughter a Frozen Elsa costume. Odd...none in stock. So you purchase something else to make up for not having the Elsa costume. Then when it eventually comes back in stock (because it usually does) you will return to the store yet again to purchase it. See how they win there? Supply purposely does not meet demand in hopes that you will buy MORE.

Anyways that's just a mini rant there is a far more important blog you should read today and that is Stephanie's talking about protecting our littles on the internet.

I share by nature. It's who I am. But being public and being public on the internet is scary. While I always will share photos of my life. I think it's important to reassess every once in a while how much is too much. My photos from here on out will be watermarked in hopes that they will never be stolen or used without my permission.

I love having a sneak peek of other people's lives. How they dress their children. The birthday soirees and adventures they plan. I find so much inspiration from other mama's. And because I try and always see the good in the world I will continue to share my family in the same way - just with a little added protection.

Just a little food for thought on this Monday morning.

Lilly lovers don't hate me...

  1. I don't get the Lily obsession either! Like you said, it's cute, but lining up outside target just doesn't seem necessary!

  3. OMG I couldn't agree more about the Lilly thing! Some of them are cute but most of it looks grandma-ish and the prices are outrageous. The privacy thing is really freaking me out its one of the reasons I don't really blog anymore and made my IG private. Idk if you follow Darci (Good Life) on IG but someone took a picture of her son and photoshopped their babies face onto his. HOW CREEPY!

  4. I don't get it either... Not at all! But then again, I don't really get excited about any Target collaborations... I'm a Nordstrom girl through & through!

  5. I don't get it either. But apparently our stores were like the ones you heard about on the news ... You know, the insane crazy ladies. Me? I was nice and snug in my bed during a thunderstorm just a snoozing away while ladies were getting in fights over Lilly. Lol. I just heard about this baby role play thing in Steph's post! So scary. I'll be watermarking too! Will you be deleting your previous non-watermarked photos?

  6. I don't get the Lilly obsession either.. and I'm from the South. It's just never been my thing. I noticed a watermark on your instagram picture yesterday, and I thought it was so smart! This will definitely be something I keep in mind when our little one gets here. It's such a scary world!

  7. I am SO glad I'm not the only one. I think it's because I live in Canada and it's just not as popular here? The patterns are a little too much for me. But they def have some cute stuff. Just not waiting-in-line-for-3-hours cute. Hope you had a good weekend!

  8. It's totally a brand obsession/Southern obsession for a lot of people. And there was NO way in hell I was going to mess with that line, post-birthday-and-hungover or not! I hear ya ;)

  9. I completely understand the privacy! I spent most of the weekend watermarking and deleting pictures off of my blog. By the way, I love your watermark on your photos, what app do you use? I usually use paint or preview to mark mine (obnoxiously)

  10. I totally don't get it either, and what I really don't get is why Target still doesn't have their crap together for these collabs. One of these days their site won't crash and they'll actually have enough supply to meet the demand :-P

  11. lol i feel the SAME way... i think i wear more black, navy, and gray than anyone else in charleston. i just cant do the bright crazy colors and patterns. but i DID want a pair of those navy patterned pom pom shorts for the beach. anyhoo as for the privacy thing goes im glad people are talking about it bc it is important for bloggers and all mamas out there to be careful with photos of their babies. i realllly want to post photos of vi but my husband and i made the decision a long time ago to keep her private on the internet. xo jillian - cornflake dreams

  15. I'm with you on this! I was just so confused with the whole thing - but I honestly don't think Lilly Pulitzer is as popular in Chicago!

  16. I totally agree. I think it's a southern thing? I browsed a bit online but everything was sold out by then, oh well!
