Five on Friday

ONE

You guys I am obsessing over the capiz accent lamp for mini's nursery. But now I can't decide between this one
or this one the capiz pendant
thoughts?

TWO

I am picking up the crib for the nursery this weekend that my parents generously bought for us. As much as I wanted this beautiful one from Restoration Hardware I just could not justify the pricetag - especially because I knew I would never convert it to a toddler bed. So we went with a classic white crib from Pottery Barn Kids
Kendall Fixed Gate Crib
So until I know where we will be living - this beauty will be sitting in a box in my house. :( Sadsies!

THREE

On Wednesday I went home and saw something crawling on Finn. David confirmed it - FLEAS!! Ugh! Four years and he's never had one flea. Yesterday I went and spent $40 at Pet Food Express on stuff to basically bomb my house with. I was so tired all I wanted to do was sit down. Instead I had to vigorously vacuum and spray some rancid poison all over my couches and the area rug. (Sorry mini I am sure those fumes weren't good for either of us.) David gave Finn a really good bath - honestly I don't think he has ever been this clean. We are keeping an eye out for those nasty blood suckers- so far so good.
Now I am just trying to figure out how to avoid getting them again. Apparently this time of year they are out in full force so beware! We applied his flea/tick/heartworm yesterday (early). Mama is not messing around anymore!

FOUR

Another note about Finn. When my friend Amy and I attended our "Dogs & Diapers" class I learned something I thought was so sad. Apparently if you dote on your dog a lot. Which is me - every morning begins with a 10 minute session of me laying on the ground with him! You are supposed to begin ignoring them. Not always but sometimes. Since when baby comes you just won't have as much time to do that anymore. This way if you begin early the dog won't associate it with the new baby. SO SAD! But pretty good advice...now if I can actually adhere to it.

FIVE

You guys I can't stop eating poptarts - it's gross. The fact that my glucose test is 3 days after Easter just feels unusually cruel to me!

Hope you have a great weekend (and I hope mine involves no more fleas!)

Linking up Liz and the other lovelies!

  1. I like the pendant, a LOT! Mini's nursery is going to be gorgeous! And poor Finn, I hope the flea situation stays under control. I guess I should really be saying poor you though- I would be freaking out. Bugs are a major downside to spring weather.

  2. I love the lamp and pendant! If you are needing a statement piece, I would go for the pendant. So pretty! Happy Friday!

  5. Love that lamp and pendant! I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I love the crib you picked out. Is it weird I already have mine picked out and I'm no where near having a baby anytime soon?! The flea story reminds me, Pixie's due for her medicine!

  6. That lamp, I LOVE!!!! XO PS - I loved pop-tarts while pregnant, started eating the low-fat ones to justify it but that just made me eat more. ;)

  8. We didn't have any issues with Buddy when we brought Shelby home so I wouldn't worry about that. Promise. Love that crib. We were lucky to have a nice one handed down to us through the family.

  9. i don't think i could ever purposefully ignore woodford (and i'm sure you're the same with finn-ster), but i do think that is great/valid advice! the pups are just so sensitive and our first babies, i hate to think they will be jealous of the human babies. either way, sheesh im excited for you guys! and finn is going to be a GREAT big brother!

  10. I would go with the handing one so you have more space on your shelves/changing table/etc. And poor Finn! But I DO think that is great advice. That, and don't watch Lady and the Tramp any time soon! xo

  12. Love both of those lamps!! I think I like the table top one more - but either would be so pretty :)
Ugh it would be so hard to ignore the fur baby, especially when they stare at you with those big sweet innocent eyes! You reminded me that Deeds needs her flea medicine too! She had them once before when the weather was warm and just the thought of it makes me all itchy :-/ Have a good weekend!! xx

  14. I like the pendant! Also, our cat got fleas when our baby was only 5 weeks old! Absolute disaster. Consider yourself lucky to be able to deal with this now. It's pretty gross, good luck!

  15. I love both lights ... you can't go wrong with either choice! Honestly, such show-stoppers!

  16. Gah that lamp! Perfect!! And crib is sooo fabulous! Aaaaah! Fleas!! Bella start itching a lot more lately, but we couldn't find any fleas...I still went to the vet last week and started her on a flea and heart worm pill lol..cause I'm a crazy dog mom like that. But it's just one pill a month and you can get like a 6 month supply at once.

  19. p.s. LOVE the crib that you guys decided on. you can't go wrong with PB kids!

  20. Oh my I am obsessed! Such a hard decision!!! I think I'd go with the pendant but the table lamp would be so much easier and you could move it around. Ugh sorry about the fleas poor baby!

  21. I'm totally obsessed with pop tarts and it's not a craving for me lol!! I love both the lamps but I think the table lamp is my pick!! The crib you guys got is so cute!! Hope you have a great weekend!

  22. So I love those lights. They're both super cute, so either one. The crib will be beautiful & I can't wait to see how the nursery turns out. I'm pretty sure poptarts have some crack in the ingredients because I ate them for like three months straight and could not get off of them. And now I'm bummed out about ever thinking of ignoring my dog, but it makes sense. A poptart would probably make us both feel better. :)

  23. Definitely favoring the pendant over the table lamp. I see little fingers loving to touch the lamp a lot ha. So sad about giving dogs less attention but it makes sense. Fleas are awful! We kept getting them on our 3 dogs from neighbor's cats. Hang in there and wash Finn in Dawn, leaving it on for a few minutes, if you see any more! Happy weekend :)

  24. you'll be fine with your pop tarts and the glucose test, don't worry. a few pop tarts a day is fine :-) hm.. i like the first lamp because it is on the shelf and less dangerous for your precious girl

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm going to vote for both the lamp and the pendant because they are too beautiful to pass up.

  26. Haha! I love it...I can't stop eating pop tarts!! Do what you gotta do, mama!! We use separate flea/tick stuff for our pup and it works great! You can find it for a great price at Sam's Club http://www.samsclub.com/sams/vetguard-plus-large-dogs-33-66-lbs/prod7220043.ip?navAction=push

    Have a great weekend!

  27. Ooh I love both the lights but I think I'd go with the pendant! And yummm poptarts. I can't have them in my house, especially the brown sugar cinnamon ones, because I'd eat the whole box in one day! Happy Friday :)

  28. New reader! Hanging pendant for sure! As I have now learned with a mobile 13 month old - everything has to continuously be moved UP and out of reach! Pretty crib!

  29. Love the lights!! So pretty, I love the table lamp, but the pendant is pretty much just as fab! Happy weekend lady!

  30. I love the light - especially the second! And the crib will be gorgeous wherever it ends up :) Poor pup! I know ours had to adjust but I always tried to give her the same amount of attention. She definitely got many more and longer walks once my little one got here! It will all be ok and Finn will still feel so loved :)

  31. How did I miss this? Love it all! (minus the fleas of course) the crib!! :)

  32. I am dying over that lamp. The light is gorgeous but the lamp is phenomenal.

And poptarts? All.day.long. When i was pregnant, Nick had to pry the Oreos, Hostess Cupcakes and raisinets from my hands.
