Celebrations

We had such a nice day yesterday celebrating our little one year old. We decided to take P to Tilden Park in the Berkeley hills which houses a carousal, a little farm and a steam train to ride on! Living in the Bay Area practically my whole life and I have never taken advantage of this park!

After a full day at Tilden we had dinner at a local restaurant, Pizza Antica, followed by a confetti shower and cake eating! It was a long day (and my camera skills were seriously OFF) but now my little one year old is blissfully snoozing away.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes for our sweet girl!

ONE

This time last year I was draped in a hospital gown anxiously awaiting an anesthesiologist. This year I am baking a cake. What a difference a year makes.

I love you beyond measure. Thank you for making me a mama <3

Happy Birthday sweet P!

I don't know about you...but today I'm turning 32

Another year older so that means another random 32 random facts you never even knew you wanted to know! As for the first 31...you can find those here!

32. My number one dream place to visit is Africa and go on a safari
31. I have owned five different cars since I was 16
30. I really like buying pacifiers - I don't know why it's weird
29. I love to shop, but much more so by myself.
28. Confession: I pick at my cuticles
27. I still love my dog Finn, just as much (if not more) than before Presley arrived
26. I wear heels so infrequently now I have a hard time walking in them
25. I really need to start wearing heels again
24. A perfect day to me would be at the beach with David, Presley & Finn
23. If buratta is on the menu I am going to want to order it
22. I rather have a diet coke over any other beverage (yes, including wine)

21. I used to get a pedicure no less than once a month - today I am getting one for the first time in three months
20. I love that Presley and I share the #20, today she is 7 months old!
19. If I could do school all over again I would have become a veterinarian
18. I use double the amount of conditioner as I do to shampoo
17. My favorite thing to wear is jeans with holes and a white tshirt
16. It annoys me that I had to struggle with math in school, especially since we DO carry a calculator everywhere we go now.
15. The concept of time has never really daunted me, until I started watching P change right in front of me.
14. I cannot wait to take P to Maui one day and swim in the ocean with her
13. My dream car is an Audi Q7
12. My favorite candy is Jujubees (no one understands why)
11. I finally am getting the hang of shooting in M mode on my camera - it's pretty rewarding
10. I love pomegranates
9. My favorite Sesame Street characters growing up were the twiddlebugs - you know the muppets that lived in Ernie's windowbox?
8. When I was little I won a couple of coloring contests, my best prize was a giant Easter Bunny. Wish I still had it!
7. My favorite food is french toast, especially when my mom makes it.
6. David makes his french toast exactly the same, but since he is not my mom, her's just tastes better. Must be all the "mom love" she puts in it.
5. I have volunteered with Make A Wish for over 9 years, but I think it's time for me to hang up my volunteer hat. Too much work and not enough Presley makes me feel spread too thin.
4. I have had a crush on David since high school!
 3. Finn had a full page ad in People magazine once.
2. I wish foie gras was still banned in California.
1. I am never working on my birthday again - so I am off to enjoy the day!

Cheers to 32!

Loving Lately Birthday Edition

This March 20th marks my 32nd year on this little place we call Earth. So in honor of wanting all the things I thought I would provide my husband the internet with a wish list. Even though he is totally off the hook on gift for awhile ever since that amazing MacBook Pro entered my life! But then I remember that I gave him the gift of Presley...I kid. Kinda...

West Elm Baggu Weekender Bag - I have been coveting this bag for quite sometime ever since seeing my friend, Kerri, tote it around on overnights. I really wanted it to be my hospital bag but then I thought that was a crazy justification. But now it's on sale! See what I did there I even slapped my initial on it. Hint, hint...did I mention free shipping?
Nellorre Blouse - As a new mom it's hard to shop for myself these days. I mean stuff is way cuter when it's teeny tiny (I'm talking about you Baby Gap). I think this would be a great shirt for the office or anywhere but the office!
Beachcomber Low Rectangular Basket - another thing I have lusted after for awhile. Little P is quickly on her way to mobility (eek!) and while I am busy lassoing up every cord and vacuuming up every dog hair (one can dream) I would love this basket to store her toys in.
Wunder Under Crop Cotton *Roll Down - I have mad love for the full length version of these so the crop is a no brainer. How fun is this color (even if is screams fall not spring)? Size 8 thank you!
As awesome as it would be to unwrap any of these gifts let's be real. These days my birthday is about taking a day off of work, celebrating the first day of spring and hanging out with my favorite people. I recently had two spots on my face that were bothering me and to be honest I was worried they were some form of basal cell carcinoma. My dermatologist was too.  So I went and got a skin biopsy (which sucks) and very happily they came back benign. It's a good reminder, in order to be your best you need to take care of yourself. I am glad I went and got it checked out (even though I will probably have two light scars on my face now) because peace of mind is priceless.

I am so grateful for my family and that we are all healthy. Life is most assuredly not perfect or even close too. Laundry piles up, dishes overflow and dust settles in places only it knows where. But laundry can always wait, dishes will eventually get done and dust is inevitable. It's all about how you choose to manage what is important.

Truthfully when life seems to be more pits than cherries I remember this we are all such a small part of this universe it seems silly to fret over the little stuff (heck even the big stuff!) So take a big breath, look around and embrace this crazy thing called life. After all...you only get one chance.
