If I Could Write A Letter to Me

Hey 15 year old you...

Braces are a good thing btw you're going to have them twice on your bottom teeth
You really shouldn't like that boy...he's a Dodger fan
That skinny little body of yours...appreciate it
Math is hard - don't worry soon you will carry a phone that can do all your math for you
(even though teachers said you never will)

Thank mom for making your lunch everyday

Hey 20 year old you...

You're about to enter the best years of your life...hold onto the memories
You will have people enter and leave your life for a reason - and be left with the best group of friends
Wear sunscreen
Take lots of photos but also put down the camera and live in the moment
That frat boy that made you cry...well he gets replaced by your future husband
Learn and absorb everything you can...you will miss school
find your passion...hey psssst it's animals
Don't buy Von Dutch hats
Toss those pieces of mail urging you to apply for credit cards

Hey 25 year old you...

This will be a rough year...you'll make it out perfectly okay, better even

Enjoy those years of living with your best friend - it will hold some of the best memories you can and cannot remember
Volunteer for something that will bring you joy (hello Make-A-Wish)
Be patient in knowing you are exactly where you are supposed to be

Hey 30 year old you...

Spend time with your family - even if they are slightly cuckoo
Just as you are aging...your parents are too
Carve out time for just you and your husband
Fall in love with him over and over again
Don't be so stubborn...there is always more than one way to do things
Patience is a virtue - find it quickly
Enjoy these moments as a family of two before they are moments as a family of three
Create traditions
Trust in yourself and know that the best is yet to come...

What would you tell your younger self?

  2. very cute post. I definitely agree with the sunscreen tip! It's so true that as you get older the years fly by so much faster, but it's great learning from your past :)

  3. Very sweet!! Isn't it funny how things that matter so much at the moment don't mean a thing a few years later?! I guess the saying "I wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger" is true. Great now I have that song stuck in my head!!

  4. This is such a cute post! And is so true. I wish I could talk to the 25 year old me and say that things change in the blink of an eye :)

And yes girl, SUNSCREEN! Even though we are getting older, doesn't mean we have to look older!

  5. Cute post... I would attach our Cliff's Notes version to that letter and include items such as "don't date your best friend's boyfriend's best friend... It never usually works... And don't try it again! Don't convince yourself it's "okay" to date a Dodger's fan... He's a Dodger's fan... Red Flag that he is a Shady dude! Don't wear a sexy bathing suit in vegas and then one with flower and ruffles the next day... No One will notice you! Yes, the worm is funny but sexy knees are more valuable than the brief laughs. You can find something wayyyyy better in life that is. "Two Words, Eight Letters" than Taco Bell... That shit is like herpes, keeps coming back!! Don't accept your first LOW paying job out of college... You can do better than your first offer! Don't become addicted to the first spray tan place you try out... Test a few and find a more natural shade of orange........

So much to learn!! Whelp, I'm off to glorify my last 7 days as a "Twenty Something"!!
