Paper Tradition

With our one year anniversary around the corner I need to start brainstorming gift ideas for David. I know the traditional route for one year is paper so I wanted to get him something small for tradition and something non-traditional. We still don't know where we will be celebrating one year but now that it is approaching faster and faster I think a big trip is out of the question. Plus I am headed to New York in less than a month and that was a spur of the moment trip.

I would like to head to Carmel to celebrate since that is where we got engaged
One of my good friends is going to be in town for a wedding on Sunday which is our actual anniversary. She agreed to take some photos of David and I on the beach.

I really want to recreate this photo but not in my wedding dress - which is shocking considering how much I like to wear it.

I'm really looking forward to cutting into our top layer of cake and drinking from our champagne flutes!

David surprisingly agreed to photos so we will see if he sticks to his word.

If anyone has any ideas for a traditional paper gift please send them my way! I do like the idea of buying tickets to see something together. A concert or play could be fun!

As for the other gift the key to his heart is flashlights, knives or tools.

So Home Depot can help me with that one!

  3. We did a print/lithograph from one of our favorite artists for our 1-year anniversary.
It hangs in our home and it's nice to have a reminder. :)

  4. Tickets to a show/concert/event is a great idea! I was going to say scrapbook, art or photo print, your vows printed up nicely (or framed)...and of course, a love letter ;)

  7. Yay for 1 year anniversary!!! We stuck with the paper tradition as well :) I got Aaron a sketch book and he gave me a journal that says "Keep Calm and Have A Cupcake" on the front..he knows me so well haha...and we also got a puzzle to do together as a "date night" it was fun to get each other a little something that has traditional meaning

  8. Our paper was plane tickets and gambling money for Zack/shopping money for me. I know, so unoriginal and not at all romantic haha. I wish I had a creative idea for you!

  10. I remember watching Newlyweds with Nick and Jessica and her gift to Nick was bed and her logic was "paper is made out of trees and so is a bed" haha so there's an option!

  14. Living in the Bay Area is a huge expense in itself! Plus, a nice car is over rated ;)
